To test or not to test?

The pandemic could be an inflection point in the long-running fight over standardized testing in the United States, a chance to reassess the role assessments play in state accountability systems, or at least to reduce their burden on schools.

“This is a great opportunity to think about how to do assessments better,” said Robin Lake, director of the Center on Reinventing Public Education, a nonpartisan research center focused on inequities in education.
