#TeacherTuesday: Allison Renye

Caring and compassion are two words that come to mind when thinking about Allison Renye, this week’s #TeacherTuesday and a French and ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher at Abington Junior High School in the Abington School District.

The words of her supervisor as she started her first day of teaching have stuck with Allison and inform her approach. “You may be the best thing your students see every day,” said the supervisor. Allison took that guidance to heart and says, “Each day I strive to ensure that my students know how much I care about each of them not only as students, but also as individuals. My goal is to help them achieve and enjoy learning while they are in my class, and for them to leave my classroom feeling better about themselves and more confident in their abilities than they did walking in.”

More than the ability to communicate well, either in French or English, Allison provides her students with the confidence to go forward in the world. And what more than that could you want?
