This week’s #TeacherTuesday is Meghan Cicchino, an eleventh and twelfth grade welding technology teacher at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) which encompasses all eight school districts in Eastern Montgomery County. The first female to teach this skill, she brought more than 12 years of experience in various types of welding to her job as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Crafts/Materials Studies with a focus on metalsmithing, and additional study in TIG welding. Meghan also has her Master’s in Education with certifications in English, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Art.
Meghan is inspired by “the opportunity to teach students the value of failure.” And she adds, “Welding is a highly skilled trade that takes hundreds of hours of practice. When students can learn to persist and work through something challenging (instead of always getting it right the first time), they are learning a life skill that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”
Let us know what other teachers bring their passion and creativity to work each day, and we’ll feature them in an upcoming #TeacherTuesday.
