Former Peace Corps Volunteer Wows his Students

We’re delighted to highlight Christian Fowkes, an “amazing teacher,” according to one of his colleagues who nominated him as this week’s #TeacherTuesday. He teaches seventh grade science at Upper Perkiomen Middle School. This member of the Upper Perkiomen Education Association also runs the student news program with the newscast appearing on the school’s You Tube Channel. Additionally, he coordinates the Student Assistance Program (SAP) team at the school to help remove barriers to students’ ability to learn. Christian was inspired to become a teacher by “serving as an Environmental Education Volunteer in Morocco with the United States Peace Corps.” He adds, “I had the opportunity to work with students and teachers in local schools. From that experience, I knew I wanted to continue teaching when I returned to the US.” Let us know what other schools are lucky to have such devoted and special educators and we’ll feature them in an upcoming #TeacherTuesday profile.
