It was music to his ears to hear that in public voting, Ian Sanchez and his choir were selected as one of only three K-8 Division Champions in the Delaware Valley in the 101.1 More FM Philly Christmas Choir Competition held over the holiday season.
This week’s #TeacherTuesday, he’s a chorus teacher for seventh through ninth graders at Tamanend Middle School in Central Bucks School District and was thrilled that his chorus made it to the semi-finals. His passion for music and for teaching is palpable and he’s been working with his students toward this goal for years, mastering the final submission in his self-constructed “sound studio.”
Says Ian, “I think that anything that can make students in a school feel like they’re a part of that school is a great activity.”
And he adds, “I knew I made the right decision to be a teacher the first time I saw that ‘light bulb’ moment in a child’s eyes. What a great feeling to know that each day you are doing one small, tiny part towards shaping the future.”
