#TeacherTuesday: Jared Hottenstein

We’re happy to feature Jared Hottenstein, a fifth-grade teacher at Jamison Elementary School in the Central Bucks School District as this week’s #TeacherTuesday. This dynamic educator believes that providing an opportunity for students to be great allows them to soar.

“I believe that it is important for all teachers to encourage the interests of their students. I think, at times, we limit what kids can do by what we ask them to do. If we ask them basic questions and give them a basic test, we’re going to get basic answers. But if we give them the opportunity to be great, they will become great.”

In addition to his regular classroom, Jared oversees the #ecology club to encourage an interest in #nature and works with other dedicated staff and students on the school’s Jamison Today Show. It’s a daily live broadcast where the goal is to empower students to be the leaders of the production teams. “Students taking #pride and #ownership in what they do leads to independent thinkers and future leaders,” he says.
