#TeacherTuesday: Erika Schwanbeck

“Health and physical education are the classes where students can learn to live their best life,” says Erika Schwanbeck, this week’s #TeacherTuesday. She teaches those subjects at Keith Valley Middle School and is a member of the Hatboro-Horsham Education Association.

Over the years, Erika’s choice to become a teacher has been reinforced many times. “It has become apparent to me through building relationships with students, by helping students to see the benefit of a healthy lifestyle (mentally, physically and socially), and by the unexplainable feeling you get when you think you might have made an impact,” she says. And she adds, “Our physical education program offers a variety of different activities in the hope that all students will find interest in something that can promote a lifetime of engaging in physical activity. This philosophy carries over into our health program that focuses on the importance of being mentally and socially healthy as well.”

What other educators are doing amazing things because they love their jobs? Let us know and we’ll feature them in an upcoming #TeacherTuesday.
