Susan McGorrey, a Spanish teacher at Hatboro-Horsham High School, loves advising the Helping Little Hands Service Club and working with students and another group to make blankets for Project Linus.
“Our club supports both the school district and the community and the students in this club have generous and caring spirits,” she notes. “I love seeing this aspect of their personalities both inside and outside of the classroom.”
Another favorite activity is “Lunch with Señora,” which started when one of Sue’s students broke her leg and couldn’t easily get to the cafeteria. This caring teacher invited the student and her friends to eat in her classroom.
“It was a chance to get to know the girls, as well as for them to get to know me. I still go to lunch with this young lady, when she is home from college,” she says. “It’s these special connections that make the Hatboro-Horsham teachers so amazing” and we agree!
