Lower Moreland Teacher Empowers Students to Make an Impact
We’re proud to feature the amazing Rachel Thierolf, a second-grade teacher at the Pine Road Elementary School and a member of the Lower Moreland Education Association as this week’s #TeacherTuesday. She gives a shout-out to her colleagues for their collaborative spirit in helping to organize and carry out projects such as the service learning activities, the nature trail and the MLK Day of Service. Says Rachel, “I feel fortunate to work in public education with some of the most talented and dedicated educators. What I hope my kids get from me is the opportunity to realize the impact they can have on the lives of others.” And she adds, “My students learn by doing. We pick up trash at our school, garden outside our classroom, mulch our garden, sort items collected for our service learning monthly projects, and meet with buddy classes to make cards for others. I try to empower my students to continue to make healthy and kind choices beyond the classroom walls.”What other amazing educators are teaching their students to make a difference in the world?
